The History, human sciences and education Department aims to promote and develop research and higher education in the field of complex systems, in line with the experiences gained in international academic contexts.

In the field of applied and social sciences, the paradigm of complexity established a new approach to the question of knowledge and skills training, which straddle between several disciplinary methodologies. This made it simultaneously possible to overcome traditional boundaries between disciplines and to pursue new theoretical and methodological paths in order to analyse the various properties of the complex structures by means of new technologies.

The Department has several active research centres and laboratories belonging to the various research areas.
